Mary Mayo Hall – Renovations

Mary Mayo Hall is located on West Circle Drive in the Residential District. Constructed in 1931, it was in need of major renovation, including installation of a new elevator, bathroom renovations and window replacements.

This project involved upgrading/replacing all major mechanical, electrical, and ventilation systems. It also included enhancement and addition of safety and security systems including audio and visual smoke alarms, ADA code-required modifications, installation of a new elevator, new paint, asbestos abatement, lighting upgrades, flooring and ceiling replacement, roofing and exterior repair, office modifications, reconfiguration of the community bathrooms, replacement of existing furnishings, and other related improvements. The entire building now is in compliance with applicable accessibility guidelines.


  • Construction began in May 2008 and was substantially completed in June 2009, with final completion in December 2009. No students were housed in the residence hall during the renovation project.
