Owen Graduate Hall Refurbishment

Project phase: Archived

Owen Graduate Hall is located on the northwest corner of Shaw Lane and Bogue Street in the Residential District. The vision for Owen Hall was to make it one of the most desired choices for graduate students and professional students. From the many focus groups and surveys conducted, it was identified that there is a significant need for a quiet, study-oriented atmosphere for this selective group of students.

This project improved the public spaces that support academic and social interactions, as well as enhanced outdoor spaces and building access systems.

The project refurbished:

  • main lobby
  • lounge
  • residence life apartment
  • lower-level study area
  • community kitchen
  • riverwalk area
  • recreation space
  • serving area
  • dining area

The project also implemented functional improvements to the loading dock area, to offer a larger platform and new equipment. Additionally, life safety and security systems were updated within the building.

  • Construction began in May 2009 and was substantially completed in July 2009, with the final completion in July 2010.
