Sheep Barn - Addition 2 - Sheep Lambing & Research Facility

Project phase: Archived

The infrastructure of the south campus sheep unit severely limited all aspects of its mission: extension, outreach, teaching, and research. The feeding system was particularly limiting; it involved a very labor-intensive management program that required expensive feed, often of inadequate quality to meet animal demands. Most research and nearly all extension programs are performed on private farms with modern feeding and housing facilities. In addition, the farming practices taught to students in this program did not prepare them to pursue profitable farming programs.

The project is located on Bennett Road in the agriculture district.
