IPF's Kurt Simon receives Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award
May 23, 2014
MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities is pleased to announce that Kurt Simon, HVAC mechanic II, is one of the winners of the 2014 Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award at Michigan State University.
To be nominated, an MSU employee must demonstrate strong and innovative leadership and embody the Spartan Spirit. HVAC Mechanic II Sue Velianoff, a fellow IPF employee, nominated Simon because he exemplifies those qualities. For the nomination, several IPF employees wrote letters about Simon.
Skilled Trades Supervisor John Phillipich, who has worked with Simon for 28 years and the last 19 years as his supervisor, wrote one of the nomination letters. “An area I believe Kurt stands out is dedication to MSU. He is highly focused on the success of his coworkers, department, IPF and MSU in total and it is my hope this focus and devotion are recognized for the true value Kurt Simon provides Michigan State University,” Phillipich wrote.
The award ceremony was April 22 at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center, where Simon was recognized along with the other MSU employees who won this year’s Jack Breslin award.
“Thank you to everybody in the committee for the Jack Breslin Award and everyone that’s helped me in my 35 years at IPF,” said Simon. “I hope that I’ve helped some of them in return.”
Congratulations to IPF’s Kurt Simon, who demonstrates the true Spartan Spirit through his continued service to the university.
