MSU’s new fueling station on Service Road now open

Aug. 19, 2013

MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities is pleased to announce the opening of its new fueling station at 409 Service Road (northeast of the T.B. Simon Power Plant) for campus customers who drive university vehicles. The station opened for business at 8 a.m., Aug. 20. The new fueling station allows customers to obtain fuel with a new purchasing card and will soon offer a new car wash for university vehicles.

To make fuel transactions more user-friendly, customers will use a fuel purchasing card rather than the key fob used at the stadium location. Customers will simply insert the card at a fuel dispenser and enter the odometer mileage of the university vehicle to obtain fuel. The new fuel purchasing cards are available at the Service Garage stadium location (325 West Shaw Lane).

NOTE: For customers who have already received a new fuel purchasing card, the card may need to be reprogrammed as the vendor had an error in some of the early cards. Cards can be reprogrammed at the new Service Road fueling station from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, or at the Service Garage in the Stadium. The process for reprogramming should take less than five minutes.

The former fueling station at Spartan Stadium will be closed as of Wednesday, Aug. 21. For the foreseeable future, the Service Garage will remain at the stadium location and the vehicle-rental office will remain at the Central Services Building. Customers will continue to pick up and drop off vehicles at the vehicle-rental office and will now use the Service Road fueling station to fuel their university vehicles.

In addition, a new drive-through car wash for university vehicles will soon open at the Service Road fueling station. The new car wash will accommodate most light-duty cars and trucks. University vehicles with ladder racks and dual rear wheels are not permitted, but a hand power-wash wand will still be available for those larger vehicles at the Service Garage stadium location. Customers will use the new fuel purchasing card for their car-wash transactions.
