Dialing instructions

On-campus calls

Dial the last five digits of the telephone number from internal phone exchanges: 353, 355, 432 or 884 telephone numbers.

Off-campus calls

Note: Departments are charged for long-distance charges.

Local dialing

Dial 8, then the seven-digit telephone number. Includes East Lansing, Lansing, Bath, Dewitt, Dimondale, Eaton Rapids, Grand Ledge, Holt, Laingsburg, Mason, Perry, Potterville, Shaftsburg, Wacousta and Williamston.

Long-distance dialing

Dial 8 + 1 + (area code) + (seven-digit telephone number) for continental US and Canada

International dialing

Dial 8 + (international access code) + (country code) + (city code) + (local telephone number)

Toll-free number

Dial 8 + 1 + (800/866/877/888) + (seven-digit telephone number)

University Operator

Dial "0"

Personal long-distance calls

Personal long-distance calls should be placed using a readily available calling card from a long distance vendor with a toll-free access number and PIN code.
