Start Time = 8:00 a.m. Note: All participants must arrive before the entry gate closes at 7:15 a.m.

The most scenic and hilliest course in southeast Michigan! Come enjoy a beautiful fall morning at Hidden Lake Gardens for the 16th Annual RUN FOR THE HILLS! 1 Mile & 5K Run or Walk along paved roads. Proceeds from the race will benefit Hidden Lake Gardens and Oh! These Irish Hills.

Register by August 31 to receive the early bird pricing discount. Late registration will be available starting September 1 until 7:30 a.m. the day of the race. Registration is only available online via credit card purchase.

All participants will receive a participation medal. Only participants registered by August 31 are guaranteed a T-shirt. Registration includes entry into Hidden Lake Gardens and the Reach for the Sky Canopy Walk.

Here are all the race details you need to know:

Location: Hidden Lake Gardens, 6214 W. Monroe (M-50), Tipton, MI US 49287 | (517) 431-2060

Entrance: On race day, the entrance gate will open at 6:45 a.m. and will close at 7:15 a.m. For race participants' safety, once the gate is closed, entry will not be permitted until 10:00 a.m. Pets will not be allowed entry into HLG for the race.

Registered participants gain free entry into Hidden Lake Gardens. All others are required to pay an entrance fee. Cash and credit cards accepted.

$10 Adults (ages 18–64)
$8 Seniors (age 65+)

Ages 4 and under are free.

Packet Pick-up:

Friday, September 11 from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Saturday, September 12 from 6:45 - 7:30 a.m. (Note: The main entrance will close at 7:15 a.m.)

Please note: If you are picking up your packet in advance, you will not be charged admission to HLG. You can also have someone pick up your packet on your behalf--just make sure they have your QR code.

Schedule: The 5k run/walk and 1 mile walk will start at 8:00 a.m. The course will be open until 9:00 a.m. Please note all 5K participants should be able to finish the course in 60 minutes.

Race day parking: Please follow parking staff directions upon arrival. This year’s parking layout has been updated to provide smoother entry and exit, while prioritizing participant safety. Additionally, vehicles will not be allowed to exit Hidden Lake Gardens until 9:00 a.m. to keep the race course clear of vehicle traffic.Thank you for your cooperation!

Awards: Awards will be distributed after the race at the registration table to the Top Overall Male and Female 5K runners as well as a Randow Draw Winner. All finishers will receive a medal at the finish line.

Results: After the race you can find your individual results using the link provided in your email. The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted live during the race and online at this website. A complete listing of 2024 results can be found HERE.
