Story Walk Trail

Now open during regular hours through October 31, 2025
Bring your little ones and your love of nature—Hidden Lake Gardens is excited to offer a brand-new Story Walk, an engaging outdoor experience that combines reading and exploration!
This year’s featured book is Sip, Pick, and Pack by Michigan author Polly Cheney, a beautifully illustrated and educational story that introduces children to seeds, plants, and pollinators through playful rhymes and vibrant artwork. As families walk along the trail, they’ll discover each page of the story displayed at intervals, encouraging movement, curiosity, and connection with the natural world.
Location
The Story Walk begins near the picnic area west of the Conservatory. Follow the signs or ask a staff member for directions. Please note that this is a new trail and is not shown on current Visitor Guides, so plan ahead and dress appropriately for a natural woodland path.
Trail Information
- Length: 0.4 miles
- Terrain: Twisting and hilly (not stroller, wheelchair, or ADA accessible)
- Caution: Poison ivy and ticks are present during peak season; signs are posted to alert visitors.
