Temporary road closures on Birch Road and Chestnut Road

Birch Lane and Chestnut Road

Road closure

What is being done?

These closures will provide space to stage buses and allow a safe drop-off/pick up for the Unified Games / Special Olympics. It will also allow spectators to safety cross between venues throughout the events. Details:

Tuesday, May 12 from about 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  • Birch Road (between Kalamazoo Street and Shaw Lane) will be closed.
  • Vehicles needing access to Lot 68 could be delayed as buses and athletes are staging and crossing Birch Road

Friday, May 15 from about 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • Chestnut Road (between Shaw Lane and Dem Hall Road) will be closed.
  • Vehicles needing access to Lot 61 or the Munn Loop could be delayed as athletes are being dropped off or picked up.

See map below for the sections of Birch Road and Shaw Lane that will be impacted.

How will this impact building occupants?

Be aware that there is summer construction work happening on Farm Lane and Wilson Road with detours heading down Shaw Lane. Drivers are encouraged to head west on Shaw Lane.

Please follow all posted detour signs, remain alert when traveling in the area, and allow for extra travel time during peak campus hours. Your patience is appreciated as the MSU campus provides the space for this incredible and memorable experience.
