When IPF Archival Assistant Jill Tuley found out that she would be working remotely due to the COVID pandemic, she knew it was going to be personally challenging.

“I love interacting with people,” Tuley said. “Pretty much everyone knows how much I love to talk; hearing people’s stories is to me what makes life meaningful.”

But for this six-year veteran of Facilities Information Services it’s not enough just to interact with people. She is passionate about being able to connect them with the information they need to successfully complete their projects.

“The FIS department lives up to its name – we provide services to our customers (both internal and external) related to information about MSU facilities,” Tuley said. “I provide drawings, project documents, historical data and anything else related to facilities to customers.”

Tuley’s job also gives her a chance to be somewhat of a detective.

“It can take hours to hunt down specific information for a client,” she said. “I may have to track down drawings, equipment and material information, historical photos, maps and various other campus information.”

Hands down, the interaction with so many individuals, from trades people, contractors and consultants, students, and faculty to absolutely anyone seeking information about our campus, is the best aspect of my job.

But it always comes back to that personal touch she gives to all she serves.

“Hands down, the interaction with so many individuals, from trades people, contractors and consultants, students, and faculty to absolutely anyone seeking information about our campus, is the best aspect of my job,” Tuley said.

Outside of work, it’s still all about the people she surrounds herself with.

“My favorite thing to do is spend time with family and friends – cooking out, riding bikes or just sitting around our firepit,” she said. “I simply enjoy being surrounded by those I love.”

Tuley is also a huge outdoors enthusiast who enjoys biking, kayaking, paddle-boarding and running. She ran the Boston Marathon in 2014. She encourages everyone to follow her lead when it comes to interacting with people.

“Don’t be intimidated. Ask for help,” she said. “Fellow employees are your absolute best resource; everyone is so very willing to help!”
