IPF Building Services – a 317-employee behemoth that includes three shifts, five unions, four business areas, nine sub-business areas, 15 shops, 27 supervisors and 54 crews.

With constant promotions, retirements and new hires to sort out, keeping this team running like a well-oiled machine is no small task; but Patti Ray and her fellow Building Services Business Office (BSBO) administrative staff pull it off every day, smiles included.

Ray, an eight-year veteran of MSU, has been an administrative staffing coordinator in the BSBO for the past two years.

Her typical days consist of completing staffing requests, submitting job postings, scheduling interviews and managing applicant screening and hiring documents. Her work helps ensure that Building Services maintains a skilled and strong workforce.

“I really enjoy interacting with the current skilled trades employees, and all of the new hires I get to meet,” Ray said. “My team is awesome; we work great together, respect each other’s talents, enjoy each other’s company and are able to make each day fun.”

Ray’s passion for helping people extends to four-legged creatures as well.

“I have rescued several stray animals,” Ray said. “A household with four dogs, a cat and a bunny can be hectic, but I love them all.”

Outside of work, Ray enjoys spoiling her 19-month-old granddaughter, spending time with her family and being in the great out-of-doors. She is also a talented crafter – spending her remaining free time working on projects,  painting and repurposing old objects into new creations.

Patti suggests that her fellow Team IPF members, “take the time to get to know and enjoy each other.” She adds, “we spend too much of our time at work not to enjoy it.”
