UPDATE: Moved to April 3 weekend. Michigan has frost laws that place seasonal weight restrictions on roadways. The restrictions for this year were not lifted in time for the crane removal to happen as originally scheduled. The crane removal will happen the following weekend to align with these requirements.
The crane at the Combined Heat & Power West Regional Chilled Water Plant will be removed over the weekend. This will require lane closure on Red Cedar Road near Wilson at the construction site. View the time lapse video of this project.
Closure of both southbound lanes of Red Cedar Road between Wilson Road and the south entrance to the MSU DPPS. Traffic shifts on Wilson Road will start Monday, April 6.
See map for details. Vehicle detour on Wilson Road, down Chestnut Road, and to Trowbridge Road. Pedestrian detour from Wilson Road across Red Cedar Road, south on Red Cedar Road in front of Communication Arts and Sciences and Ramp 5, to the cross walk just south of Ramp 5 across Red Cedar Road north to DPPS.
During this work, the north entrance to MSU DPPS and the pedestrian cross walk across Red Cedar at MSU DPPS will be closed. The drive leaving the south side of Comm Arts (ramp 5) will be north bound only.
Please obey all construction barriers, mind all flagmen and patrol officers, and follow posted detours. Your cooperation and patience during this time is appreciated.
