Shared Trailer Pooling Program
Transportation Services is excited to introduce our upcoming Shared Trailer Pooling Program, designed to provide a convenient, cost-effective, and efficient solution for the MSU community. This program allows departments to share trailers for various purposes, reducing the need for individual department trailer ownership and increase resource stewardship.
To kick off the program, university owned trailers will be upfitted with a Samsara GPS telematics device and mobile application to provide trailer location, availability, and utilization. If the data indicates the trailer is underutilized, the department will be notified. The department can choose to enroll in the shared trailer pooling program or sell the trailer through Surplus Store and rent a trailer from the Transportation Services Motor Pool trailer fleet. This effort aligns with our commitment to advancing the University’s mission by executing operations with strategic resource deployment to achieve quality outcomes and maximize value.
Similar to the Shared Vehicle Pooling Program, trailers are available university staff and departments on a rental or shared use basis.
