Cowles House

Cowles House

Construction notice

What is being done?

The project consists of upgrades to the rear yard landscape including a terrace and improving accessibility. The interior renovations consist of upgrading the main floor entertainment spaces, installing new bathrooms and redesigning the commercial kitchen. The second floor includes updating the master and guest suites.

Why is this being done?

The current configuration of Cowles House does not provide adequate space to properly support events. The building has limited accessibility for persons with disabilities. The upstairs residential space is essentially unchanged since renovations in 1950, and its configuration does not provide a private and independent living area separated from the event space.

How will this impact building occupants?

The driveway will be used as the construction entrance and closely monitored for traffic and pedestrian safety throughout the construction duration. Peripheral pedestrian traffic and bicycle circulation will remain unchanged. Certain detours will be in place temporarily during construction.
