Are you a new shooter interested in learning more about the fundamentals of archery?

No matter what level you’re at, we have the class for you! At the Demmer Center we offer training experiences that instruct shooters in the basics of archery through our introductory and one-on-one training sessions. These training sessions include safety and operational instruction, range time, and equipment rental.

Introductory Archery Session

Call in advance to reserve a spot for the Introduction to Archery Sessions, which includes a 10-minute safety briefing, explanation of the shot process and sight alignment, and get 1-1.5 hours of range time/instruction for the price of $35 per person. This includes instruction, safety gear, range time, bow rental and arrows.

Our shooting sessions are taught by patient, courteous USA Archery-certified instructors and are open to youths and adults.

If you’re looking for something a little more advanced, you can receive Personal Training from our Archery and Firearms coaches and trainers. Coaching for Olympic style shooting is available. So if you wish to take your skills to the next level, stop by the Demmer Center.

One-on-One Training

Our personal one-on-one training is designed to improve your shooting ability in pistol, rifle, or archery. Each session is customized for the individual shooter. Receive analysis on your shooting style, personalized shooting drills, and expert coaching in a 1 hour session. Extended sessions available at an additional fee.

Depending on the student's objectives, we will match the student with a certified instructor to meet their needs.

Coach certification includes:

  • USAA Level II and III
  • Nationally Ranked Competitors

The price for members is $40 and for non-members is $85.

Ladies Only Archery Course

Like to learn more about archery? If you are a woman interested in target/3D archery, hunting or even just learning the basics, we have a clinic specifically tailored for you. This is an excellent opportunity to hone your skills on various types of platforms.

Classes taught by courteous instructors in a fun environment!

Junior Olympic Archery Division Shooting (JOAD)

JOAD practice sessions are hosted at the Demmer Facility nearly every Saturday of the year with junior participants of all levels from novice to highly advanced shooting abilities.

Junior shooters learn basic archery instruction with either compound or recurve equipment and are coached by our world class staff including Coach Glen Bennett who has been named “Archery Coach of the Year” on multiple occasions by the USA Collegiate Archery Program.

The JOAD Program will teach your daughter or son discipline, confidence, focus and provide them a fun physical activity they can partake in for their entire life.

Additionally, our JOAD Program will help prepare your junior shooter for tournament shoots at the national level if they so desire.

Archery 101

Beginner Archery 101 Evening Class

Five Week Beginner Archery Class

Course Fees: $250 per person

Youths under 10 years old, parent must be present during the class.

All Shooting materials and safety equipment are provided.

The following is an outline for a basic archery class at the MSU Demmer Center. The foundation for each class will teach archers fundamentals and drills that will strengthen the archer's confidence plus proficiency. All classes will build on the previous class. In order to promote safety, class participation and a positive learning environment the class may be divided into two person teams on some weeks.

Week 1: Safety Briefing, Introduction to Recurve Bow & Shooting

Week 2: Introduction to Compound Bow & Shooting

Week 3: Introduction to Crossbow & Shooting and Shooting Bow of Choice

Week 4: Introduction to Scoring & Shooting Bow of Choice

Week 5: Team Competition

Other topics covered during the course include competition style archery, equipment, 3D targets (weather permitting).
