Water system flushing

What is being done?

Fire hydrant flushing may result in water discoloration. Fire hydrants are flushed annually to inspect, provide reliability, clean and scour the piping to our water system.

During the flushing process there may be slight discoloration of the water caused by sediment or rust being flushed from the water mains.

Please note that your water is safe for all other uses and that slightly higher amounts of chlorine are added to the system during this maintenance.

The flushing process may affect sinks, lavs, showers, urinals, toilets, safety showers and eyewashes.

How will this impact building occupants?

Precaution Advised: Red Water - this discoloration is harmless in terms of sanitation and safety, but may discolor clothing if used for laundry.

Please notify all personnel in your department. Your cooperation during this time is appreciated. We apologize for any inconvenience.
