Red water alert

What is being done?

East Lansing is performing water main flushing, as part of annual flushing required by the State of Michigan to maintain the water distribution piping.  MSU buildings affected: 1855 Complex, Breslin Center, Brody Complex, Kellogg Center, and University Apartments.

How will this impact building occupants?

At this time we do not anticipate any buildings being shutdown. There may be red stained water noticed in these buildings during this time. The water is still safe to use, but may discolor laundry items during the shutdown. Affecting sinks, lavs, showers, urinals, toilets, safety showers and eyewashes.

Precautions Advised: Red Water - this discoloration is harmless in terms of sanitation and safety, but may discolor clothing if used for laundry during.
