Food Science - Fruit and Vegetable Lab renovation - update
- Project milestones:
- Floor sinks and sanitation piping installation is complete.
- Second floor sanitary piping and floor drains have been replaced. Epoxy floor installation in progress.
- Installation of air handler piping and duct work is complete.
- Classroom epoxy floor installation in progress. Installation of door will follow. A/V components and furniture installation to be complete by start of fall semester.
- Equipment purchases and connection to continue; some will arrive after semester begins
- Impact updates:
- Continued general construction noise.

Edward J. Minskoff Pavilion - wrap up
- Project is now substantially complete, and facility has been turned over to the Business College.

Water Tower and Filtration Plant
The tank for the new water tower has been given the Spartan treatment and is being readied for its move to the top of the tower on Aug. 9 (weather permitting).

Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building
Construction of the facility is substantially complete with occupants scheduled to begin moving in sometime in September.

Pilot project to add protected bike paths to Bogue Street, reduce one vehicle lane
MSU and East Lansing will convert one southbound lane of Bogue Street this week into a two-way protected bicycle and electric scooter path as a pilot project to study whether pedestrian and bicyclist safety is improved. Read more.

Parking ramp maintenance schedule
Entire floors are not expected to be closed off during work. Sections of different levels will be closed off but there will be access to all floors. Parking may be limited during times of maintenance so drivers will need to plan accordingly.

Asset collection for knowledge management
MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF) is implementing an Asset Collection for Knowledge Management initiative in a continuing effort to deliver services and facilities that help Spartans change the world.
The initiative is comprised of five core activities: facility condition assessments, inventory of facility systems and assets, mapping of assets, barcoding of assets and linking of electronic asset information and documents to asset records. Read more.

W.J. Beal Botanical Garden: Music in the Garden Concert Series
The Music in the Garden Concert Series brings a variety of musical styles to one of the most beautiful places on campus. In partnership with the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden, this series presents high quality music performances followed by interesting and informative garden tours. The series is free and open to the public. The Eat at State Food Truck and MSU Dairy Store will be on-site.

The Faculty Readiness Program (FRP) is a dedicated team from IPF and Facilities Planning and Space Management (FPSM) working together with colleges to proactively plan for new faculty hires, using various delivery methods to shorten bid periods and construction timelines. Read more.

MSU Bikes launches new website and online store
MSU Bikes now offers online shopping for bikes; new, used and even rentals. Students can purchase or rent a bike before coming to campus, and have it waiting for them when they arrive; no more waiting in those long lines! Shipping is not offered at this time, local pickup only.

Almost 140 attendees enjoyed demonstrations of safety equipment, displays by vendors of safety gear and educational sessions regarding personal and occupational safety. Even Sparty showed off his fire-fighting savvy!

Staff at the T.B. Simon Power Plant have been employing drone technology to visually inspect the inside of the seven-story-tall boilers, a job that normally requires many staff hours and extensive scaffolding deployment.

IPF carpenters turn old desks into big savings
Through the ingenuity of IPF carpenters, and the generosity of the Surplus Store, the university realized a savings of over $25,000 from the salvage of old desk components.
