R.I.C.E. – helping reduce MSU’s carbon footprint
The Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine (R.I.C.E.) technology that is being deployed at the T.B. Simon Power Plant is more responsive, offers additional flexibility, and operates at higher efficiency than the traditional generation units currently in use.
STEM facility blooms from dormant power plant roots
It’s hard not to notice the two huge additions rising adjacent to the old Shaw Lane Power Plant. A myriad of activity is resulting in the erection of a first-of-its-kind for MSU – a STEM teaching and research facility constructed using mass timber.
Empowering employee development during COVID
Not only do employees benefit from this development, IPF benefits as well. Improvements to an employee’s specific trade skillset, as well as interpersonal relationship skills, ultimately has a positive effect on the work we do for our campus partners. They see IPF employees who are more confident, talented and have better communication skills – skills which can often make the difference between a satisfactory experience and an exceptional one.

MSU Bikes - back in the saddle again
Seventeen years ago, the seeds were planted for what would become one of the most innovative university biking centers in the country. Even a recent temporary closure in response to the COVID-19 outbreak couldn't keep this team of sustainable transportation devotees from helping the campus and surrounding communities continue rolling on.
Tim Potter: A life behind (handle) bars
Age 12 was a turning point in Tim Potter’s life. “I was delivering newspapers on my Schwinn Stingray when I saw a neighbor working on a bicycle in his driveway,” Potter said. “Watching the repairs being done captured my attention and piqued my curiosity.” Little did he know how much that experience would shape his future.

Infrastructure Planning and Facilities once again sponsored several student teams, providing them access to our expertise, equipment and resources in completing their capstone projects for MSU’s College of Engineering Spring 2020 Design Day.
Getting help "virtually" anywhere
Designed in a collaboration between IPF and MSU IT to provide help to those remote workers and minimize contact between IPF IT staff and those still working on site, the IPF Virtual Tech Bar is an easy-to-use system that generates a service ticket after users answer just a few brief questions.
